AMPYR is committed to fostering economic empowerment and development opportunities for the local community, including employment, training and procurement. The team is working closely with the Cardinia Shire Council to develop a Community Benefit Agreement that benefits the region and will develop additional benefit programs in collaboration with the local communities closest to the project.  

AMPYR Australia has launched the Wimpole Battery Community Fund, a new $40,000 grants program designed to support community-led initiatives in communities closest to the project.   

The Fund provides grants of up to $5,000 for eligible community organisations, including volunteer groups, schools, sporting clubs, First Nations organisations and local service providers. Funding is available across a wide range of priority areas including environmental projects, cultural initiatives, youth programs, education, health and wellbeing, arts, sport and small-scale infrastructure upgrades.

As development of the Wimpole Battery progresses, additional funding rounds will be released to continue supporting local organisations and initiatives that contribute to the region’s wellbeing, resilience and sustainability.  

Community Reference Group (CRG) 

 AMPYR is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) to join the Wimpole Battery Community Reference Group – an advisory group that will provide guidance during development and construction and help inform how the project shares benefits locally into the future.
